SINOPSIS:
Pada Lukisan berjudul Teror Bendi menghadirkan orang bertopi cowboy, tank dan pesawat sebagai ikon Modern Barat, dihadapkan dengan orang berjenggot memakai sorban dan masyarakat Bali ke Pura sebagai ikon Timur. Dari ikon-ikon yang ditampilkannya, tampaknya Bendi mencoba menghadirkan dialog Barat dengan timur, yang berujung pada bersimpang siurnya penanda, petanda, gaya dan ungkapan, sehingga kontradiktif dan ambigu. Akhirnya karya tersebut menjadi karya Post-Modern bersemangat intertekstualitas dengan idiom schizofrenik. Oleh karena itu, tidaklah perlu terkejut apabila karya Bendi terpilih dalam Pameran seni Kontemporer di New York. Karena memang pada karya-karyanya bersemangat kekinian, BENDI TELAH MEMASUKI DUNIA POST-MODERN.
SYNOPSIS:
In the painting entitled Terror Bendi presents people wearing cowboy hats, tanks and planes as Western Modern icons, faced with bearded people wearing turbans and Balinese people going to temples as Eastern icons. From the icons he displays, it seems that Bendi is trying to present a dialogue between the West and the East, which results in a confusion of signifiers, signifieds, styles and expressions, making them contradictory and ambiguous. Ultimately the work became a Post-Modern work passionate about intertextuality with a schizophrenic idiom. Therefore, it is not surprising that Bendi’s work was selected for the Contemporary Art Exhibition in New York. Because his works are contemporary in spirit, BENDI HAS ENTERED THE POST-MODERN WORLD.
